Honey Badger DH

MSRP: $64.95

Description Technical Specs
With tri-bite knobs running down the center for fast rolling speed and sipped to open up under heavy braking loads. Completely redesigned side knobs claw into the ground and never let go. A protective grid across the sidewall reduces the chance of sidewall slashes and punctures. Several constructions offered for every rider. Honey Badger don't care!
  • Several compounds available including; DTC, Stick-E, RSR, 42/50.
  • KSCT, LGC, and CAP + BI protections available.
  • Front and rear application.

The original dual tread rubber compound for Kenda. A hard long lasting and fast rolling rubber (60sA) comprises the center of the tread area, while a softer-tackier should rubber (50sA) completes this binary compound for the versatility of speed and grip off road. Found typically on cross country, all-mountain and cyclocross tires.

Kenda’s latest super soft and slow rebounding rubber compound (42 shore A durometer) takes grip and traction to a whole new level. As equally adept at holding onto wet slippery roots as it is on dry hot rubble, all while providing its own form of suspension through rebound control. Developed with the gravity rider in mind and tested by professional downhillers and slalom riders, this race only compound is not your everyday training tire. Found only on Kenda’s premium downhill and freeride tires.

Stick-E is Kenda’s original all mountain and downhill rubber compound. The 50sA rubber still provides sure grip for a wide range of trails and conditions while lasting longer than softer compounds. In addition to being used as the shoulder compound on DTC tires, Kenda also offers tires in complete Stick-E compound for the all mountain rider who wants a balanced tire life with a sure grip.

The DH-DTC compound blends two of Kenda’s best performing offroad compounds for an superior performance that is suitable for the most aggressive of Enduro courses while still being tough enough to tackle downhill tracks. Stick-E (50sA) compound down the center, RSR (42sA) compound across the transition and shoulder knobs.

KENDA SCT is the modification of existing Kenda tire technologies making them now compatible with fluid based tubeless conversion systems.

The DHC begins with an added layer of the woven CAP ply under the tread that also covers the sidewalls of the tire down to the bead. This is further reinforced by including butyl inserts above the bead for extra sidewall stability, rim protection, and reducing the chance of pinch flats.

Complete tire protection designed with the challenges of Enduro and Downhill racing in mind. A super supple 120tpi casing that is sheathed with 3-pieces of casing protection to resist punctures and slashes while being optimized for tubeless ready (TLR) performance. The sidewalls are further supported with a butyl insert for strength and pinch flat resistance. Resulting in a lightweight tire for whatever trail you want to race down.

CAP or CAP PLY as it has been referred to is an added layer of material that is under the tread area and runs from bead to bead. Generally used in Kenda Premium Downhill Tires as a puncture resistant material designed to prevent pinch flats.

EMC is the first tire casing on the market specially designed to meet the requirements of e-mountain bikes. Thanks to a reinforced ply of woven fabric and additional layer of puncture protection, every tire with EMC casing is more durable and provides more control and grip than any other standard MTB standard tire. ECE-R75 certified and approved for usage on e-bikes up to 50 km/h.

Indicates that tire has passed the ECE-R75 E-Bike certification for E-Bikes with speeds up to 50 kilometers (30 miles) per hour.

great alternative to Minion DHF June 21, 2019

26x2.4, DH-DTC, LGC.  Front wheel of a dual suspension AM bike.  Typical trails have loose over hard and clay surfaces, extremes of dry and wet seasons, with a lot of roots and rocks.
Thanks Kenda for continuing to support 26" wheels!
I have been using the Honey Badger DH tires on my front wheel for a few years now and it's performed superbly.  Excellent traction (bite) on a variety of surfaces, strong braking action, great durability/puncture resistance, and long wear life.  They are comparable to the Minion DHF:  Minion has stronger braking action, but the Honey Badger DH has less slip/squirm in corners (especially at mid-lean angles) and is much, much cheaper.
My front tire of choice for the foreseeable future.
